It is a true honour to showcase the products from Nancy and Richard Self. The couple left a life of finance in Vancouver to embark on the passion project of a lifetime in Roseneath, Ontario. 

"Technically Richard was in the business side of finance, while I was in research. My area of research was food companies, grocery companies and aging North American demographics. We both like to cook and, importantly, eat good food. So our finance background was in more transferable skills than most think. People say we are doing something entirely new. While it is true, the hard work, doing research, reading and being willing to try and fail are all things we have always done, and tried to install in our 5 children."

Nancy and Richard raise an assortment of animals on there farm, one in particular being the Tamworth pig. 

"The Tamworth pig was the dominant pig in Ontario at the turn of the century. It is hardy breed and an efficient feeder.  These are the important reasons we like the breed. However, when pig farming evolved more to  pork production, the Tamworth pig almost disappeared in Ontario. Over the past 10 years however, there has been a bit of a renaissance in the "ginger pig" in pastured pig farming. The Tamworth Pig is part of the Canadian Slow Ark of Taste - a group that highlights agricultural products that are an important part of Canada's agricultural history. "
